Goldenbelle Shayla, 7th 2nd 1993 - always
A born explorer, Shay's first 4WD experience was at 9 weeks of age and within the first 4 years of her very full life, she had slid in the mud of the Birdsville track, ( been to the races twice ), rode to the top of Australias highest sandune ( still standing on the car fridge lid ), slept in the ashes of the fire at a storm soaked Haddon’s Corner, thoroughly searched a ghost town bakery in SA ( sure they must have left something behind 150 years ago ), christened the new lawn at the Stockmans Hall of Fame, kayaked the volcanic lake at Gwydir mountain park, hunted for sapphires at Emerald and managed to steal at least one thing from each person ( including their hearts ) on the many camping weekends away at Land Cruiser Park, earning her the title of - “The Ten Thousand Mile An Hour Hound From Hell” because you had to catch her to get anything back and in true Beagle style.........that wasn't an easy task.
Entering the show ring at 5 years of age was a simple transition for her and although her shows were few and far between she did manage to finish off with back to back Hound Club of Qld ** VETERAN IN SHOWS ** at 8 and a half years old.
She was the Queen who 'must be obeyed', the guardian of the Christmas presents every year, the teacher all our puppies learned their place from, but above all, Shay was a close, loyal companion and best friend.
Her life was filled with adventures and she filled mine with a special irreplaceable "something" .... unique to Shayla. A huge thanks to Marg Suggett, who, albeit reluctantly, gave in to my stubborn choice and let me bring home this one in a million.
Shay left us on May 3rd 2006 to rule a new pack.
